Details on common treatments and call out charges

Visit fees start from £20 depending on distance travelled. Where possible we try to arrange your visit when we are already close-by, keeping your charge to a minimum; as a result your fees may vary from time to time. Visit fees can be reduced to a minimum of £10.00 if shared.

All prices listed are exclusive of VAT.

Emergency visits where we have to travel from outside your area to see your horse as quickly as possible will incur a greater visit fee. Out of hours calls (weekends and 5pm—8.30am, Mon—Fri) will attract a surcharge.

Traditionally veterinary practices have charged a substantial mark-up on prescription drugs. We intend to charge a minimal mark-up to cover our storage and dispensing costs only. There is, however, an additional fee of one cup of tea per horse examined!

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, credit or debit card or preferably by BACS transfer. If payment is not made at the time, bills are issued shortly after consultation. Our terms of payment are within 14 days of the billing date. Late payments will attract a surcharge of 5% every month after the due date.

Terms and Conditions of Business

All fees and drug charges are subject to VAT at the current rate. Fee levels are determined by the time spent on a case and according to the drugs, materials, and consumables used. Our written fee list is available on request.

Settlement Terms

Should an account not be settled within 30 days, then a reminder will be sent with an additional accounting fee in respect of administrative costs incurred. Should it be necessary for further reminders to be sent, further charges will be incurred. These however, may be deducted if payment is made promptly. After due notice, overdue accounts will be referred to our Debt Collection Agency and further charges will be levied in respect of costs incurred in collecting the debt. Any cheque returned by our bank as unpaid, any Credit Card payment not honoured and any Cash tendered that is found to be counterfeit will result in the original account being restored to the original sum with further charges added in respect of bank charges and administrative costs, together with interest on the principle sum.

Inability To Pay

If, for any reason, you are unable to settle your account as specified, we ask you to discuss the matter as soon as possible with a member of staff. Please note that installments or part-payments of any account may ONLY be sanctioned with express permission of Mr Richard Stringer.

Stringer Equine Practice strongly supports the principle of insuring your horse against unexpected illness or accidents. Please ask for details about insurance from a member of staff.
